Preparation
Lie supine on bench with leg extended beyond edge of bench (less than half of thigh on bench). Bring knee of other leg to chest.
Execution
Pull thigh down with hands until low back touches testing surface. Repeat on opposite leg.
Measurement
Lower thigh should remain on table. If lower thigh lifts off table while low back contacts table, a tight Iliopsoas is indicated.
Comments
Thigh should be pulled into chest just enough to have low back contact bench. A false positive may occur if pelvis posteriorly rotate beyond what is nessecary to have low back contact testing surface.
